Cloudy Collection Print Editions : Volume II

Volume II / Edition 4 : Simple

FullSet

Sometimes it pays to take a step back from all the tiny details and try to distill something to its essence. Simplicity can sometimes be used to gloss over something more complicated, but in the hands of a master, simplicity can clarify an idea so it declares its message more succinctly. On the other hand, in the hands of a master who also happens to be snarky, the idea of simplicity gets turned on its head, and turned into a great visual joke. Have it both ways in this set called “Simple,” with art by Graham Annable, Tad Carpenter, Jennifer Daniel, Tom Gauld, Blanca Gómez, David Huyck, and Lauren Nassef.

This stack of seven letterpress prints is made on 4"x6" white bamboo paper using vegetable-based inks on a Vandercook press. Printed with all wind-power by Boxcar Press in Syracuse, NY, the edition is limited to 100 sets of prints.

Edition released in December 2010

A special note about this print set: A portion of the proceeds from these print sets will be given to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. About the time I was organizing this print set, my mother, Marion Huyck, was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was the best of possible circumstances: they caught the tumor very early in a routine mammogram, they did a simple lumpectomy rather than an entire mastectomy, and they were able to do a very localized radiation treatment. As of Friday, November 26, 2010, she has completed her scheduled rounds of chemo treatment, and she is now on a clear path to a full recovery. I’m proud of you, Mom! I hope to help continue the types of research that made such successful treatment possible with our small gift to the cause.
